Hello Everyone and Happy Bank Holiday Monday!. We hope that you are keeping well and safe and staying at home during this month of May, that will probably extend into the next few months. At least now, we can get out for unlimited exercise as we are starting to come out of our 3rd “lock down” which is great news, with meeting up up with family and friends outside, with the “rule of six”. But we have a way out with the vaccine.
We thought we would show you how to make another cocktail, called the Tom Collins-Cocktail. The origin or history of how this cocktail started is it was invented in New York in 1874 by a gentleman called Tom Collins, the drink appeared in the 1876 Bartender’s Guide. Variations of this classic drink include a drink called John Collins, substituting the gin for bourbon.
How to make the above cocktail, you will need the following ingredients/equipment.
50ml Old Tom Gin or London Dry Gin
25ml Lemon Juice
25ml Cane Sugar Syrup
Lemon Slice and Maraschino Cherry (for the garnish)
High Ball Glass (or something similar from your cupboard)
Bar or Tea Spoon
This is a fairly straight forward cocktail to make but also very easy to drink too.
To make this cocktail, you will need to follow these simple steps:
Place a couple of ice cubes into the bottom of the glass. Then pour the 50ml Gin, 25ml Lemon Juice and 25ml Cane Sugar Syrup straight into the high ball glass. Top the drink up using the soda water. Then using a bar spoon, give the drink a stir until mixed properly. Finally, place a slice of lemon and a maraschino cherry in the top of the drink, for the garnish.
Kick yourself back, relax and enjoy!
