National Margarita Day

Hello Everyone, we hope that you are keeping well and safe. As today is National Margarita Day, 22nd February. We thought we cannot let this day go by, without acknowledgement of such a classic cocktail. Enjoy making it.

We thought we would show you how to make another cocktail, called the Margarita Cocktail. The origin/history of the Margarita cocktail is in 1938, Carlos “Danny” Herrera at his restaurant Rancho La Gloria in California, USA. The drink was created for a customer and former dancer Marjorie King, who was his girlfriend and was allergic to many spirits, but not tequila.

How to make the above cocktail, you will need the following ingredients/equipment.

25ml Tequila

25ml Triple Sec

25ml Lime Juice

Sours

Salt/Saucer

Lime Wheel (for the garnish)

Martini Glass (or something similar from your cupboard)

Strainer

Cocktail Pourers

Knife/Chopping Board

Cocktail Shaker

This is a fairly straight forward cocktail to make but also very easy to drink too.

To make this cocktail, you will need to follow these simple steps. Use a slice of lime and rim the glass, invert the glass and place the edge of the glass into a saucer of salt. Tap the bottom of the glass before re-inverting it, to ensure no salt goes into the bottom of the glass. Then pour 25ml Tequila, 25ml Triple Sec and 25ml Lime Juice into a cocktail shaker along with a few ice cubes about a third of the way up, inside the cocktail shaker. Shake the cocktail 10/15 times over your shoulder, until properly mixed. Then pour the drink into the Martini glass by straining it first. To finish the drink, (for the garnish), cut a lime wheel and place on the side of the glass.

Kick yourself back, relax and enjoy!
